| West Bank Genealogy Society had this message today: Mobile Archdiocese Records For those who also have ancestry originating in Mobile and then New Orleans (as I do), you might be interested in the following: I was recently in a discussion about the Mobile Archdiocese Records. We sort of heard from the sister of the present archbishop that the previous archbishop was not interested in publishing any further volumes of the sacramental records. It is possible if everyone writes to the present archbishop, we could convince him easily to continue (he's a native New Orleanian). It's worth a shot. Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi 400 Government Street Mobile, AL 36602 There was an awful Tweet today: Historical Archives of Cologne Germany collapsed. "History buried in the rubble..." "The building housing Cologne's municipal archive collapsed on Tuesday, bringing parts of some surrounding structures down with it. At least two people are missing. Some of the documents housed in the archive date back to the year 922. The archive also contains some half a million photographs." |
